RentPackage - One-minute e-contract tutorial video
Is e-signing legal? A must-read for agents and landlords!
In today’s fast-moving rental market, brokerages and landlords face low signing efficiency, hard-to-reach tenants, and easily lost paper contracts.
Common signing pain points
- Agent pain points:Coordinating schedules with tenants and owners, even hand-delivering paper copies.
- Landlord pain points:Living far from the rental, requiring long trips or couriering paper copies.
- Tenant pain points:Can’t sign during work hours, delaying the process and risking lost opportunities.
- Paper-based pain points:Paper gets lost, hard to store, and hard to find.
Are e-contracts legally valid?
Not only in the United States—major countries and economies have long recognized e-contracts by law. For example:
- European Union:Under the eIDAS Regulation (EU Regulation No 910/2014), electronic signatures include Basic, Advanced (AdES), and Qualified (QES). AdES and QES have strong legal effect and can be used across borders.
- Japan:Under the Act on Electronic Signatures and Certification Business, e-signatures have the same legal effect as wet signatures if the signer is identifiable and the content is unaltered.
- Taiwan:Under Civil Code Art. 153 and the Electronic Signatures Act Art. 9, as long as intent is clear, e-contracts have the same legal effect as paper.
Additionally, technical logs generated during e-signing (e.g., IP address, timestamp, signer ID, signing sequence) not only prove consent but can also serve as evidence in court. These measures greatly enhance the security and credibility of e-contracts.
Is RentPackage's e-signature technology secure?
RentPackage's e-signature uses international standard PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) digital signature technologyand employs certificates on the Adobe AATL (Adobe Approved Trust List)to ensure signed PDF agreements are intact and verifiable.
Adobe AATL is a crucial trust framework for verifying PDF documents globally, and most PDF readers (like Adobe Acrobat Reader) use this trust list to verify document signatures.
You can refer to Adobe's official documentation:
https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/approved-trust-list1.html
What security measures are included in RentPackage's e-signing process?
- PKI digital signature:Ensures the PDF document is not tampered with.
- Timestamp:Record the signing time for each signer.
- Complete Audit Trail:Includes signing process, IP address, and signing records.
- Document Integrity Check:If the document is modified, the signature becomes invalid immediately.
- Long-Term Validation (LTV):Ensure the signature can be validated for years to come.
- Signer Photo Capture:Supports signer photo capture and liveness detection to ensure the signing process is conducted by a real person, not a photo, video, or automated script.
What signing methods does RentPackage support?
RentPackage offers multiple flexible online signing methods to suit different leasing scenarios:
- Sign now:Applicable for landlords, tenants, or agents to sign directly on the same device on-site.(SES)
- Link Sign:The system generates a unique signing link that can be sent via LINE, WhatsApp, SMS, or other methods to complete signing.(SES)
- Email Signature:The system will send a signing notification via email to the signer, who can complete the signing by clicking the link in the email.(SES)
Among these three signing methods, only Email Signature: is notified and verified via email; 'Now Sign' and 'Link Sign' are suitable for scenarios without Email or preferring other communication methods.
How is RentPackage different from DocuSign, AdobeSign, DropBoxSign, Viafirma?
Platforms like DocuSign, AdobeSign, DropBoxSign, and Viafirma primarily providee-signature serviceswhose main function is to allow users to upload and sign documents online.
RentPackage, on the other hand, is acomprehensive Property Management Systemthat not only offers e-signature features but also integrates the data and workflows needed for property management.
In RentPackage, you can automatically generate lease contracts using data directly from the system, such as:
- Tenant Details
- Landlord Details
- Property Information
- Rent and Deposit Settings
- Lease Term and Payment Method
The system will automatically apply this dataContract Templateto quickly generate a complete lease without manual document edits.
Once generated, leases can be signed online via RentPackage or manage uploaded PDF contracts from other platforms.
In other words:
- DocuSign / AdobeSign / DropBoxSign / Viafirma:Primarily a document signing tool.
- RentPackage:It's a lease management system + contract auto-generation + e-signature.
This design allows real estate agents, landlords, and property managers to complete tasks on a single platformsuch as contract creation, signing, and subsequent lease management, significantly improving operational efficiency.
For stricter compliance with certain countries' regulations, the system also supports uploading signed PDF contracts from third-party compliance platforms for centralized management.
Comprehensive support for online leasing
Tenant lease signing
We offer flexible signing options: Email notifications, on-the-spot signing, and remote signing via a unique link. Wherever tenants are, they can open the link on a phone or computer to sign—no paper or in-person meetings—dramatically improving efficiency.
Landlord authorization agreement
Beyond tenant leases, we offer a complete Owner Authorization Agreement so agents can obtain online authorization from landlords. It supports digital signatures and record retention, enabling a formal, legally enforceable relationship without meeting in person—enhancing professionalism and credibility.
Sign Now feature
For on-site signing, Sign Now lets landlords, agents, and tenants sign on the same device and finalize immediately. A PDF contract is generated in real time and saved automatically. Perfect when everyone is present or Email isn’t available, seamlessly moving in-person signing to digital—compliant and efficient.
Sign without Email
For tenants or landlords without Email, we provide a dedicated signing link. The system generates a unique URL; the agent or other party simply shares it to guide them to the signing page. No login, no downloads—making signing painless and smooth.
Signing progress tracking
Track each contract’s signing status in real time. See who has signed and who hasn’t, and send reminders with one click—avoiding missed signatures and speeding up operations, a powerful tool for agents and landlords.
Multi-language support
Our system supports 50+ languages—including Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Thai—so tenants and landlords can sign in their preferred language. Ideal for international operations, short-term rentals, and foreign tenants, removing cross-border barriers.
Auto-save contract files
Every completed contract is saved as a PDF and archived to the account. View, download, or print anytime—no more searching paper or fearing loss. This supports long-term retention and modern digital management.
